ECTS-04 Economical Symmetrical Digital Cable Test System

The ECTS-04 Economical Symmetrical Digital Cable Test System is a high-precision testing system developed by the Shanghai Electric Cable Research Institute (SECRI) for evaluating the performance of 4-pair high-performance symmetrical digital communication cables, including CAT5, CAT5e, and CAT6 cables. The system provides a reliable and cost-effective solution for communication cable testing in manufacturing, quality control, and laboratory environments.

The system measures both electrical and transmission characteristics of digital communication cables. Electrical measurements include mutual capacitance, conductor resistance, resistance unbalance, and capacitance unbalance. These parameters help verify the electrical quality and consistency of the cable.

For transmission performance, the ECTS-04 measures attenuation (insertion loss), input impedance (open/short), terminated input impedance, fitted characteristic impedance, return loss (RL), structural return loss (SRL), propagation delay (PD), velocity of propagation (VP), delay skew (DS), near-end crosstalk (NEXT), far-end crosstalk (FEXT), Power Sum NEXT (PS NEXT), Power Sum FEXT (PS FEXT), Power Sum Equal-Level FEXT (PS ELFEXT), attenuation-to-crosstalk ratio (ACR), and Power Sum ACR (PS ACR). These measurements provide a comprehensive evaluation of cable transmission performance and compliance with communication cable specifications.

The ECTS-04 is designed as an economical yet accurate solution for testing structured cabling products, making it suitable for manufacturers and laboratories that require dependable performance verification of Category 5, Category 5e, and Category 6 communication cables.
